royally wed

I wasn't that excited about the whole ordeal. In fact, I was rather nervous for the bride; I can't even imagine having to share your day, and all its details, with 3 billion people. It gives me anxiety just thinking about it.

But I was still fascinated by said details. Specifically the dress, the shoes, the hair, and the nails.

The dress is an obvious one. Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen coupled perfectly the modernity that is Kate Middleton and the traditionalism of the Royal family.

The shoes, an extension of the McQueen dress. I have yet to see the photos of this one...

I was so ecstatic that she didn't fall for the pressure and wear her hair up. In true Kate Middleton form, she wore a half up, half down look topped with a vintage tiara borrowed from the Queen. I mean seriously, you rarely see the girl wear her hair all up!

And I was pleasantly surprised with her choice of barely there neutral/pink nails. I would've absolutely hated seeing a french mani with that glorious dress.

The one fail in my mind was the bridal bouquet and the maid-of-honours floral hair-piece. Really, just baby's breath?

All-in-all I was happy that she didn't give up her individuality and conform for the sake of tradition. A breath of fresh air, really. And she did her own make-up! #swoon

And, I'll be honest - I've been rather infatuated with how honestly they've embraced social media through all of this. I think their lack of ego can teach something to all of us.

Photos from top to bottom borrowed from here, here, here, here, here.
